This Friendship Should Be Laid To Rest

I saw this poem and it reminded me of alot of people who are having friend problems. I myself have noticed alot of fake people around my neck of the woods and its really funny honestly. But I always say " Out with the old, In with the new". And in 2009 there will be alot of old baggage thrown away, left behind, and forgotten!!! I only see stars in my future and they are as bright as can be........so who ever shinin wit me see ya at the top. Whoever trying to block my shine, must be left behind!!!!!! Sorry 4 ya!!!! hahah........NOT!!!!!!

What else could you do that would hurt me
How else could you cause me pain
How much longer will you go untrusting
And when will you leave me again
How many times will you tell me you love me
How often you'll say that you care
When again will you be unforgiving
When I reach for you no body be there
How many times will you tell me you're sorry
How often on me will you cry
And how I will always come running
For a while after Ill be left asking why
How many more tears can you take from me
How many more apologies can I make
Will there come a time for me
When I accept all was a mistake
How often will you come back to me
How many times will I fall
Before I admit how you're treating me
And for once over you stand tall
What else could you do to kick me down
How else could you make me sad
How much longer can you pretend
That this friendship hasn't gone bad
How many more times will you speak ill of me
Yet reach out for me when in pain
How much more can I take from you
And will you always be the same
When will you hear me calling you
When will you see all Ive done
When will you see how you troubled me
That this friendships had its run
When will you smile because I am smiling
Or are you saddened by my success
Maybe if these things are true my friend
This friendship should be laid to rest

What A Long Day!!!!!!!!

So the last few days have been sooooooo crazy!!! I had a pretty decent xmas even though it was the first one since my mom, grandfather, and uncle passed. It definitely wasn't the same without them around the dinner table, but we still made it happen and had a blessed holiday.

So I've been back to work and we have been sooo busy!!! Its to be expected because i do work in the medical field and tis the season to be sick with everything you can think of!!lol We are averaging about 70 to 120 patients per day!!!!(crazy right???) its cool though, because id rather be busy then to just be sitting there bored as all hell!!!( yea ya heard me right, i have to be doin something!!)

Work has been a little trying lately due to internal conflict among the employees, and today it just reached an all time high!! I always say never mix business with pleasure and always know when to talk about work matters at work and personal matter at home!!!

I know that every where you go there are cliques, that's a given. but my thing is when upper management try to be more of a friend then a manager. See when managers do this some don't know how to draw a fine line between the 2. I myself am a manager at my place of employment and can definitely separate the two!!! The other manager does not.

I love her to death but she can not ride that fine line. I don't think its fair to show favoritism, especially if its well known to the other employees, that's when the shit hits the fan!!!! I myself am cool with all my staff and doctors that i work with. Out of all 7 of our sites we run I have not a problem with anyone and if I did no one would ever know unless it needed to be known.

Everyone who knows me personally can honestly say that i have a huge heart and i am very kind and warm. I mean I can be an asshole when i need to be and fly off the handle, but it takes alot to get me there and when I do, ITS A FUCKIN RAP!!!!(excuse the lingo..lol) And at the same time i can be just as gentle and cry at the drop of the hat if you yell at me or hurt my feelings.

I love my staff very much and they are a great bunch to work with, but they need to know when to separate work from personal life. And the other managers need to know how to separate being just that a MANAGER and then being just a FRIEND. Sorry for he work rambles, but I just needed to vent some more after venting to my best friend (thanks bighead...i 'appreciate it!!).

I also had this post in regards to every day life and friends that you may or may not work with. Alot of times we take people for granted. No matter if we mean to or not, and Ive been seeing that alot lately. Hell, I may even been a victim myself? I'm not perfect and I know no one else is, but when you have a good person in your life that you know would do anything in the world for you times 10!?!?!? You need to really cherish, honor, and acknowledge that because people like that are hard as hell to find these days!!

This last year has taught me alot about people around me and that are a part of my inner circle. Some people truly don't realize what they have until its gone.(I've definitely experienced that this year). So to all those who I may have taken advantage of or neglected our friendship/relationship, from the bottom of my heart and soul....I truly do apologize and I pray every night that you forgive me and that i don't make the same mistake again with you or anyone else. And to all those who have or will do it to me...I have forgave you and will forgive you because I refuse to enter 2009 and live through 2009 with stress and troubles.

To all those out there who have great people in your lives that are down for you no matter if its work, school, relationship, money, health, business, moving, or what ever else, hold on to them and give the same in return. This is a very hard, cruel, 2 faced world and you need at least one person who will always be there!!! If you have more than one person then you are def blessed!!!!

Have a great night all!!!! Smooches!!!

Eartha Kitt, 1927-2008: The Original Material Girl

Something in a young chanteuse from South Carolina saw the genius in changing her name ever so slightly. Eartha Mae Keith became Eartha Kitt — discarding an ordinary surname for one of inspired felinity. It heralded the sex kitten who purred the lyrics to her lightly naughty hit singles of the early '50s; whose sophisticated persona in films and on Broadway barely concealed her claws; and who would achieve camp renown as the prowling, growling Catwoman on the '60s Batman TV series.

But Kitt's persevering through a life that began hard and was never less than challenging — her ability to thrive in good times and survive all the other times — demanded the strength and resilience of a creature sturdier than a house cat. A tiger, perhaps. When she died on Dec. 25 at 81 in Connecticut, she had been enticing and educating the public for more than 60 years. Kitt succumbed to colon cancer on Christmas day, just as thousands, perhaps millions of old-timers were playing some Yuletide CD containing her seasonal ode to seduction, Santa Baby.

She rose to celebrity from the direst of circumstances. Born in South Carolina, in 1927, the spawn of an African-American and Cherokee woman who had been raped by the white owner of a plantation, Eartha Mae was jettisoned by her mother at eight. Sent to an aunt in Harlem, she quit school at 15 and lived for a time in subways — an all-too-familiar blueprint for emotional disintegration.

Dubbed the "most exciting woman in the world" by Orson Welles, Kitt's career spanned six decades, from her start as a dancer with the famed Katherine Dunham troupe to cabarets and acting and singing on stage, in movies and on television.

She won two Emmys, and was also nominated for several Tonys and two Grammys.

Kitt was featured on the cover of her 2001 book, "Rejuvenate," a guide to staying physically fit, in a long, curve-hugging black dress with a figure that some 20-year-old women would envy. She also wrote three autobiographies.

She persevered through an unhappy childhood as a mixed-race daughter of the South, and made headlines in the 1960s for denouncing the Vietnam War during a visit to the White House.

Her first album, "RCA Victor Presents Eartha Kitt," was released in 1954. It featured songs such as "I Want to Be Evil," "C'est Si Bon" and the saucy gold digger's theme song, "Santa Baby," which is revived on radio each Christmas.

The following year, the record company released "That Bad Eartha," which featured "Let's Do It," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy."

After becoming a hit singing "Monotonous" in the Broadway revue "New Faces of 1952," Kitt appeared in "Mrs. Patterson" in 1954-55. (Some references say she earned a Tony nomination for "Mrs. Patterson," but only winners were publicly announced at that time.) She also made appearances in "Shinbone Alley" and "The Owl and the Pussycat."

She was the sexy Catwoman on the popular "Batman" TV series in 1967-68, replacing Julie Newmar, who originated the role. A guest appearance on an episode of "I Spy" brought Kitt an Emmy nomination in 1966.

In 1996, Kitt was nominated for a Grammy in the category of traditional pop vocal performance for her album "Back in Business." She also had been nominated in the children's recording category for the 1969 record, "Folk Tales of the Tribes of Africa."

Kitt also acted in movies, playing the lead female role opposite Nat King Cole in "St. Louis Blues" in 1958. She more recently appeared in "Boomerang" and "Harriet the Spy" in the 1990s.

"Generally the whole entertainment business now is bland," she said in a 1996 Associated Press interview. "It depends so much on gadgetry and flash now. You don't have to have talent to be in the business today.

"I think we had to have something to offer, if you wanted to be recognized as worth paying for."

Kitt was plainspoken about causes she believed in. Her anti-war comments at the White House came as she attended a White House luncheon hosted by Lady Bird Johnson.

"You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed," she told the group of about 50 women. "They rebel in the street. They don't want to go to school because they're going to be snatched off from their mothers to be shot in Vietnam."

For four years afterward, Kitt performed almost exclusively overseas. She was investigated by the FBI and CIA, which allegedly found her to be foul-mouthed and promiscuous.

"The thing that hurts, that became anger, was when I realized that if you tell the truth — in a country that says you're entitled to tell the truth — you get your face slapped and you get put out of work," Kitt told Essence magazine two decades later.

In 1978, Kitt returned to Broadway in the musical "Timbuktu!" — which brought her a Tony nomination — and was invited back to the White House by President Jimmy Carter.

In 2000, Kitt earned another Tony nomination for "The Wild Party." She played the fairy godmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" in 2002.

As recently as October 2003, she was on Broadway after replacing Chita Rivera in a revival of "Nine." She also gained new fans as the voice of Yzma in the 2000 Disney animated feature "The Emperor's New Groove," and won two Emmys for her voice work in "The Emperor's New School."

Kitt was born in North, S.C., and her road to fame was the stuff of storybooks. In her autobiography, she wrote that her mother was black and Cherokee while her father was white, and she was left to live with relatives after her mother's new husband objected to taking in a mixed-race girl.

An aunt eventually brought her to live in New York, where she attended the High School of Performing Arts, later dropping out to take various odd jobs.

By chance, she dropped by an audition for the dance group run by Dunham, a pioneering African-American dancer. In 1946, Kitt was one of the Sans-Souci Singers in Dunham's Broadway production "Bal Negre."

Kitt's travels with the Dunham troupe landed her a gig in a Paris nightclub in the early 1950s. Kitt was spotted by Welles, who cast her in his Paris stage production of "Faust." That led to a role in "New Faces of 1952," which featured such other stars-to-be as Carol Lawrence, Paul Lynde and, as a writer, Mel Brooks.

In 1960, she married Bill McDonald but divorced him after the birth of their daughter, Kitt.

While on stage, she was daringly sexy and always flirtatious. Offstage, however, Kitt described herself as shy and almost reclusive, remnants of feeling unwanted and unloved as a child. She referred to herself as "that little urchin cotton-picker from the South, Eartha Mae."

R.I.P to the original Material Girl.....Eartha Kitt

What is the most expensive car in the world? The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8,700,000 in 1987. It is estimated that only 25 of this exact model will ever be produced.

4.LeBlanc Mirabeau $645,084 Doesn’t this look like a race car? Yet, with $645k, you can get this car and legally drive to your local supermarket and buy groceries. It has a top speed of 229 mph+ and although it was intentionally made for racing, it may be bought and show off to your neighbors.

" Workin It Out " Diary Entry 6

Hello all!! Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted a Diary Entry, but it's been very hectic around my neck of the woods. Work, holidays, xmas shopping, and all that other adult stuff that can consume your life!!!lol

But I did want to give an update to all those who may be following my work out diary entries because they are wanting to lose weight themselves or for those who just want to see if I fail or not??? ( HI HATERS!!! Yea I kno yall there!!) But as of my last post I was only 4 pounds away from my 10 pound goal.

Well I have checked in and as of today I didn't hit the 4 pound goal.....because I lost 6 pounds instead!!!!lol I have lost a total of 12 pounds so far!!! Now if you have been following my blog, my goal by Jan 1, 2009 was 15 to 20 pounds. Right now I think I really may surpass that 15 mark for sure, but I may even pass the 20 pound mark!!

I must say I am very proud of myself and very happy that even though its been a lot of days where I had to go at it alone, because my cuzzo couldn't make it, I've really put in the work by myself as well as with my trainer. She is very inspirational and she really stays on my butt!! I needed to have someone like her to be my trainer because she works me sooo much that it makes me work myself even harder.

At first everyone was very skeptical about me starting such a diet and workout plan right before all the major holidays, but I've always been the type of person who does the opposite and go against the grain!!lol I just thought to myself, " If I can make through the holidays with this regimen, then I can make it in life with it as well."

Here are also a few tips that were passes along the way to me via emails, Doctors that I work with, and other people who have fought or is fighting the battle of losing weight as well:

1. Never crash diet to lose weight
When you lose weight rapidly your body is typically only losing glycogen (carbohydrate) and water weight, not fat. Your body thinks that it's starving and reduces its metabolic rate, which makes it harder for your body to burn each calorie (they burn at a slower pace than they normally would). Then when you start eating normally again, your body stores as much food as it can into your fat cells in case of another “famine.”

2. Best weight loss plan: substitute foods instead of eliminating them
Although many people feel that “diet” or “reduced fat” foods are not as good as the original, it can be a big help to buy less fatty snack foods. Try out different reduced fat brands and items and who knows, you may find something that you like even better than the original. The key is making sustainable changes - if you can't live without tortilla chips, trying to eliminate them entirely from your diet won't work. Making the change to a lower-calorie reduced fat tortilla chip can make a noticeable change in total calories consumed over time.

3. What drinks for losing weight
Cutting soda out of your diet completely can save the average person 360 calories or more each day. Even diet soda, fruit juices, and whole milk can add unnecessary calories to your daily intake. Instead, drink lots of water and switch from whole to skim or even soy milk; the little things can make a big difference.

4. Weight loss = healthy diet and moving around
Getting up, moving around, and exercising will reduce the amount of food that you will need to cut back on. There are obviously many opportunities to be athletic and active (i.e. sports teams, the gym, going for a jog, etc.) if that interests you, but these aren't the only ways to increase your activity level. You can walk to school, bike to work, walk up and down the stairs a few times before you take a shower, take an extra lap or two around the grocery store.

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends 30-45 minutes of moderate aerobic performed 3-5 times per week in their Guidelines for Healthy Aerobic Activity, but if all you can do is walk around the block twice before you go to bed, that's a good start. Anything is better than nothing, and it's harder to be eating while you're moving around, so it may result in you eating slightly less as well as burning more calories.

The best thing about aerobic exercise is that the benefits are cumulative - you essentially gain the same health benefits from taking three ten-minute walks throughout the day as you do from taking one 30 minute walk. With this in mind, it can be much easier to break your activity goal into manageable pieces that will fit into your day.

5. Gradual changes are best for losing weight
Gradually ease into your diet if possible. Many diet programs allow you to do this. Remember that small changes are easier to stick with than drastic ones. Start by always leaving a little extra on your plate, or drinking water instead of soda. Smaller changes are also more likely to remain with you when the duration of your diet is complete. Aim for behavior-change goals that you know you will be able to maintain over years, not just weeks.

6. Don't overeat
If you're full, or even simply satisfied, stop eating. There's no need to eat until your stomach feels like it's going to explode. Also, keep in mind that it takes a while for the nutrients in your food to enter your bloodstream, and circulate to the nerve centers in your brain that regulate appetite. Eating slowly is helpful in this regard--you give your body a chance to recognize that you've had enough to eat.

7. Try not to banish certain foods when dieting
Don't tell yourself that you can NEVER have something again because you will immediately crave it. People need to eat fats to be healthy as well, just make sure that you're eating them in moderation, and maybe try to balance out a fatty food you ate earlier in the day by choosing celery sticks over chips for your snack. Try to get yourself to think, “I know I CAN have it, but should I have it?”

8. Successful weight loss: be in it for the long term
Crash diets and unsustainable exercise routines will not keep you at your desired weight for the long term. You need to focus on realistic, achievable goals - behavior modification that you can live with for years, instead of just weeks. For an example, let's say that a hypothetical person is ten pounds overweight, but at perfect energy balance - they eat exactly as many calories as they burn every day, so their weight remains constant. If that person sacrifices one small snack that they have every day, let's say a handful of chips equaling 100 calories, over the course of a year that person will lose over ten pounds! A pound of fat on your body represents 3500 stored calories. 100 calories X 365 days in a year = 36,500 calories, or over ten pounds of fat. Small changes can make a big difference in your health.

And for those who have a good start going and then began to plateau and stop losing the weight? Here are a few tips for you as well.

Remember: when dieting plateaus, numbers matter
Fatiguing dieters often get complacent about numbers. If the number on the scale hasn’t moved in awhile, think back to what worked with your initial weight loss:

Record your daily meals. Sometimes seeing your food intake on paper can help you identify problem areas.
Don’t be afraid of the scale. When you weigh yourself frequently you are sure to notice when your weight is slowly creeping up back up.

Talk to a specialist. In some cases, the best way to get your diet plan straight is to talk to a dietitian who can help you with charting calorie levels and meals. Remember: Your nutrition needs change as your weight changes.

Re-evaluate and redistribute your calories and eating patterns
A plateau can be maddening, especially if you feel like you are already depriving yourself of food. Don’t starve your way to that additional weight loss. Instead, reevaluate how you disperse your calories throughout the day:

Eat something every three to four hours. Distribute your calorie allotment over five or six small daily meals; it’s good for your metabolism and your piece of mind!

Keep your meals balanced. Try to eat a small amount of fat, protein and carbohydrate in each meal or snack; balanced meals ensure you avoid rebound hunger.

Add lots of fiber to your diet. Include at least 5 grams of fiber at each snack or meal. This way, you’ll easily get your 25 grams of fiber per day (which is recommended for women), and you’ll actually feel fuller for longer.

Jump-start your workout to kick-start that dieting plateau
There are only so many ways to limit your food intake. But you can always alter your energy output levels by revamping your workout. Increase these aspects of your workout:

Frequency. Exercise on more days per week than you do now.

Intensity. Add miles or extra steps per hour to your cardio machine.

Duration. Add extra time—like 10-20 minutes—onto your daily run or walk.
Plateau? Revisit your weight loss goals

When you hit a plateau, go back to the basics. Don’t forget: How much you eat and how much you exercise ultimately determines how much you weigh. Analyze small components of your routine and look for areas to improve:

Have your portion sizes crept up because you stopped measuring your starchy food serving sizes?

Are you grazing on candy at work because you don’t have any fresh fruits or vegetables at your desk?

Do you regularly skip an opportunity to walk instead of drive or take the bus?

Are you prioritizing new areas of your life ahead of your workout?

Are you rewarding small victories with food when there are better alternatives?

Write down three small, manageable goals for this week that may help you get back on track . By developing ways to improve small parts of your diet and exercise routine, you will indirectly improve the entirety of your lifestyle.

Get back on track!

Reevaluating your actual needs, redistributing your caloric intake and revamping your workout are all ways to target individual parts of your weight loss journey. Finding a number of small areas for improvement is often more important than looking for one big impediment to continued weight loss.

And regardless of those last few pounds or a scale that seems to be stuck, don’t forget to congratulate yourself on how far you have already come. A positive attitude can sometimes be the greatest motivator for ultimate success.

I hope this helps someone out there and inspires them to go for their goal like I did mine! It's very hard I'm not even gonna lie. There are times when I don't wanna go workout or I just want to pig out with the girls at work, but I think about all the hard work I put into losing the weight and it makes me not want to turn back! The best advice I can give to those who are trying to loose the weight its do it the healthy way. All the quick fixes like the 3 day diets or diet pills are not the answer. I mean yea they may be a good jump start, but once you stop them all the weight you lost comes back plus more!!!!

If this is something you really want to do then go for it, if you need support then find family members, friends, co-workers, who ever may be in the same mind frame as you and do it together. Heck if ya need some encouragement drop me and line!!! Our generation is one of the most unhealthiest in a long time and we need to get ourselves together so that we can get our children ready to be the next healthy generation. Shoot some people may not even be here if they don't start getting their health in order. I know that may be harsh to say, but in all honesty its the truth.

My main goal wasn't just to look good by loosing weight. It was too feel good and to be healthy so that when I do have kids and hopefully grand kids I would still be around to play with them. To run up and down a court practicing basketball with my son or daughter. To be able to toss a football or a baseball to my grandchildren. Hell to be able to keep up with my future husband because I know he will be a sports freak and very competitive!!!lolol

If you want then go get it!! But you have to be willing to work hard, let go, and be willing to do whatever it takes to get the way you want to be!! Hugs & Kisses!!!

Volvo S60 Concept

Here is the first glimpse of the Volvo S60 Concept car which will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in early January 2009, giving an indication of what the all-new Volvo S60 will look like when it's launched in 2010.

"We both can, and dare, to deliver more exciting and more dynamic designs while maintaining our lead position in safety. The concept car shows part of our future, it's a hint that the all-new S60 will be one of the strongest contenders in the CD premium segment," says Stephen Odell, President and CEO at Volvo Cars.

The first picture reveals the coupe-inspired silhouette that gave the original S60 its unique stance. It has now been further accentuated. "The concept car's design gives a visual promise of enthusiastic driving characteristics and I can assure you that the all-new S60 will deliver a sporty drive like no Volvo before," says Stephen Odell.

New shoulders resembling a double wave
The sleek coupe-like roof line is accompanied by entirely new shoulder contours, a gentle double wave from the headlamps at the front of the car to the tail lamps at the rear.

"The inspiration comes from the Swedish coastline's cliffs and seas," explains Volvo Cars' design director, Steve Mattin. He adds: "The concept car's exterior gives a clear indication of what customers can expect of the all-new S60. On the inside we've been even more daring – there the focus has been on creating a vision of the future."

Centre stack made of Orrefors crystal
Among the interior features is a floating centre stack made of hand-crafted Orrefors crystal. It is shaped in a graceful, transparent wave from the instrument panel all the way to the rear seat backrest. The crystal panel appears to float above the centre stack's ergonomically designed functionality and it rests gently on rubber pads.

"In a concept car the aim is to give your imagination a free rein and our iconic super-slim centre stack was the perfect object. Using pure crystal is a thrilling experiment. We may well see interior features in crystal-like materials in the future," says Steve Mattin.

I really like this car!!! I think it's very sleek and sexy!! It's not the big time cars everyone loves like the Benz, Bentley, and other cars of their stature, but I'm a simple woman who likes simple things!!lol And this is what I like;o)
