Don’t Stop The Music!
Whether you are a student, a parent or an educator we can all agree that getting a student to listen is the first important step to a phenomenal learning experience,” says Dallas Austin Foundation (DAF) staffer, Lyvotte Hall. Featured in a video, which highlighted the purpose and achievements of DAF, Hall is among a host of parents, corporate and community leaders, celebrities, and foundation staff who work to ensure that music education maintains its position in public schools.
Based on the premise that “young people who learn music excel academically and are more likely to attend college,” the Dallas Austin Foundation is “committed to transforming the lives of young people by enriching their educational experiences through the use of music and film.”
DAF was founded in 2003 by Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter, Dallas Austin who began his career when he was in 10th grade. DAF sponsors six programs, which include an HBCU college/university tour, a spring break financial empowerment summit and college scholarship awards. “Don’t Stop the Music” (DSTM) is the foundation’s premier after school program, which was designed to keep music curriculum in public schools where in some cases, music programs were withdrawn due to funding.
Schools with DSTM programs have recording studios on campus where students learn aspects of music production including song writing, music composition, and vocal recording. Students participating in the program develop character as well as problem solving skills. Maintaining academic standards is also encouraged. DSTM currently serves students who attend 10 Atlanta area middle and high schools.
When asked what comment stands out among student responses Austin said, “Every time I see somebody in the streets who [participated in] the program, they just say, ‘Thank you so much Mr. Austin for the program.’ Noticeably moved by the exchange Austin continued, “That means a lot to me. You get to really feel it and really see it when it’s happening. ‘Thanks,’ is the biggest thing they can say to me.”
A Gala Affair
Music icons, Gladys Knight and George Clinton were honored during DAF’s Third Annual Don’t Stop the Music Gala. Held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta in March, guests enjoyed a palatal dinner and an extraordinary concert hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. R&B princess, Fantaisia serenaded the audience as did Ms. Knight. Tyler Perry whose Tyler Perry Company is a foundation sponsor, attended the gala along with rapper, Young Jeezy and recording artist, Monica. Actress, Nicole Parker also attended the gala with brother-in-law, Patrick Kodjoe.
DAF has an aggressive goal to raise $25 million. Among other initiatives, donations from the gala as well as an online auction will enable the foundation to open ten more studios before 2008 and expand nationally in 2009. “We’re going to make a curriculum based program and take it to Washington and make sure all the schools have it. Whether it’s D.C. or Florida...It’s like there is a need for [the curriculum],” Austin advised.

No End To Success
Success is not the triumph over regress,
Success is the power to suppress.
Success is not the money or the fame,
Success is, knowing you are still the same.
Success is not the power or the pride.
Success is the knowing how to hide.
Success is not a gift or gain,
Success is accepting and believing in your name.
Success is not a point or goal to seek,
Success is, believing you have never reached the peak.
Please always remember this. This is for all those out there who are going to school, advancing in their careers, trying to start a career, business owners, net workers, designers, models, actors, and anybody else out there who is trying to make it to the top.

Monif C
(New York, NY) - Monif C. , is an unapologetic stand for high fashion style for plus size women. Designed by mother/daughter team, Monif Clarke and Elaine Clarke, Monif C. was conceived to reaffirm every woman's desire for an inspired life, luxury, and unadulterated sex appeal.
A love of color, prints, and vintage details has been a part of Monif's life from childhood. A child of Barbadian immigrants, Monif spent many summers enjoying the sweet life in Barbados. While there, she was awed by her grandmother's love of color (red is her favorite!) and she was transported to a time when women dressed up for every occasion recognizing that taking pride in their appearance is one of the best things they could do for themselves.
Today as a plus size woman, Monif understands the need for a new perspective in the plus size market. "It took me many years to appreciate my curves and recognize them as a plus and NOT a minus. I know that there are women like me who recognize that we get dressed everyday in the hopes of reflecting creatively what we bring to the world. I was tired of buying the standard uniform that every woman has, I needed luxurious feminine clothes that make a statement...Who says plus size can't be sexy, luxurious, and feminine??"
A trip to Europe in 2004 and frustration with the plus size market prompted Monif to start designing her own line. Monif doesn't follow trends when she designs, but rather she makes what she wants to wear. Monif loves curvy figures and therefore she makes clothes to accentuate curves, not cover them up. Her designs are heavily inspired by her love of the Caribbean, the glamour of New York City nightlife, and European style. Versatility is also a key design element. Monif C. pieces work well for day and night...dressed up or down. Also, the young and the young at heart both enjoy Monif C . pieces. Some women will wear the Monif C . line as item pieces, coordinating them with jeans, capris, and short jackets for a more casual look. Other women may decide to wear the entire collection. Fabrics, trims, and treatments are carefully selected to bring integrity to each piece. In fact, every piece offered in the collection is something Monif herself would wear, perhaps on a date, out with her girlfriends, or on vacation in Barbados. The Monif C . collection is quintessentially the wardrobe for the young, contemporary, sexy plus size woman.
Monif C . offers a fresh and unique interpretation of well-priced style for plus size women. Monif C. is fabulous fun in luxurious fabrics, delicate trims, and details often developed from original artwork. When you wear Monif C., you reclaim your femininity and your strong sense of self.

Check Out Mug Shot
Movieweb has released 4 mug shot posters for Tyler Perry's latest film, 'Madea Goes to Jail', which comes out on February 20.
The film stars Tyler Perry, Derek Luke, Keshia Knight Pulliam, David Mann, Tamala Mann, Ronreaco Lee, Ion Overman, Vanessa Ferlito, Viola Davis, Sophia Vergara, Robin Coleman, and Bobbi Baker.
At long last, Madea returns to the big screen in 'Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail.' This time America 's favorite irreverent, pistol-packin' grandmomma is raising hell behind bars and lobbying for her freedom...Hallelujer!
After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea (Tyler Perry) in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe (Tyler Perry) couldn't be happier at Madea's misfortune. But Madea's eccentric family members the Browns (David and Tamala Mann) rally behind her, lending their special "country" brand of support.
Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway (Derek Luke) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle - defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (Keisha Knight Pulliam) - and asks his fiancée and fellow ADA Linda Holmes (Ion Overman) to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail, Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a "motherly" way as only Madea can.
I posted the trailer to this awhile back, but I thought these pictures were too funny!!! I will definitely be in the movie on Feb 20th when this comes out!!

Michael Jackson sued by 'Thriller' director
Fresh from the news that ‘Thriller’ is headed for Broadway, Michael Jackson is now being sued by the director of the legendary music video.
John Landis, whose 1983 video for the song at the time made it the most expensive video in history, says that he has not been paid profits made from the video in the past four years.
According to thewrap.com, Landis filed the suit in Los Angeles last week.
The story says that no lawyer for Jackson has yet responded to the suit, and that a physician entitled Tohme Tohme is currently handling Jackson’s business affairs.
Landis is legally entitled to 50% of the profits from the music video and a ‘making of’ documentary which he also directed.
Congress Poised To Delay End Of Analog TV To June
WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress is poised to grant a four-month delay in the upcoming shutdown of analog TV broadcasts, though broadcasters still will be allowed to go all-digital earlier if they want.
The House was expected to vote late Tuesday or Wednesday on a bill that would shift the analog TV shutdown to June 12 from Feb. 17. The Senate unanimously approved the idea Monday night, in a victory for the Obama administration and Democratic lawmakers who argue that too many Americans wouldn't be ready to get digital broadcasts by Feb. 17.
The Nielsen Co. estimates that more than 6.5 million U.S. households that rely on analog sets to pick up over-the-air broadcast signals could see their TVs go dark next month if the shutdown is not postponed. People who subscribe to cable or satellite TV, or have a newer TV with a digital tuner, are not affected.
A delay is "our only hope of mitigating the negative impact on millions of consumers," said House Commerce Committe Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif. Waxman is shepherding the Senate bill, sponsored by Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., through the House.
Democrats need the support of at least two-thirds of House members to pass the bill and will run into opposition from at least some key Republicans, including Joe Barton, R-Texas, ranking member of the House Commerce Committee.
Barton argues that a delay would confuse consumers and burden the wireless companies and public safety agencies that are waiting for airwaves that will be freed by the shutdown of analog TV broadcasts. The shift to entirely digital broadcasts, which are more efficient than analog, has been planned since the 1990s.
Some opponents of a delay also worry about the added costs for television stations that have been banking on the Feb. 17 date and wouldn't want to keep broadcasting both analog and digital signals for another four months. But Rockefeller adjusted his bill to let broadcasters go entirely digital sooner than the June deadline if they choose — a provision that has helped win the backing of the National Association of Broadcasters.
The Obama administration began pushing for a delay this month after the Commerce Department hit a $1.34 billion funding limit for coupons that help consumers pay for digital TV converter boxes. The boxes, which generally cost between $40 and $80 and can be purchased without a coupon, translate digital signals back into analog ones for older TVs.
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the arm of the Commerce Department administering the program, is now sending out new coupons only as older, unredeemed ones expire and free up more money. The NTIA had nearly 2.6 million coupon requests on a waiting list as of last week.

Kerry Washington
So I'm sitting here at home on a cold snowy day in Ohio, washing clothes, cleaning my house and cooking dinner. I was listening to some music, but got tired of that and decided to watch a movie. I couldn't decide at first what to watch, but then for some reason this weird flasback popped in my head???
I have been making plans to go see my best female friend down in florida next month and I got to thinking about how we use to kick it back in the day and how funny and crazy we were. One of our favorite movies is " Save The Last Dance ". Our favorite part of all time is when Sara is first trying to learn how to dance hip hop.lol
I know yal remember the scene when Derrick is trying to teach her the criss cross?!?!? Flashback comment: " What does she think she doin? The 2 step or sumthin??"lol I remember everytime we would go out and Meth & Redman's " The Rockwilder" came on we would always re-act that scene with me being Sara, cause everyone thought I was so shy and innocent(which I am..lol) and Les would be Derrick, teaching me how to do it!lol We was and still are a mess when we get together, but that's what good friends are for. To be there through all the good, bad, happy, sad, and all the other moments in life. That's why she's not only my best friend, but shes my ace, my ride or die, my sister!!!
Over the years I must say that Kerry is def one of my favorite actresses as well as a style inspiraton. I can honestly say I have never seen her in anything that I was just like, " Oh hell naw, what the hell is she wearing?!" Below are just a taste of some of her beautiful, elegant, and classy fashion choices. ENJOY!!!!
Lauren Conrad Collection
Lauren Conrad is proud to announce her first collection, perfect for every occasion. Turning her dreams of becoming a fashion designer into a reality, Lauren Conrad Collection reflects Lauren's upbringing in Southern California, embracing the laid-back lifestyle with dresses, tops and silhouettes that feature novelty detailing, playful accents and clean lines and shapes. All of Lauren's looks can easily be transformed from day into night, without skipping a beat. This Fall, Lauren Conrad Collection will offer timeless pieces that are sophisticated and chic, to bring out the California girl in you!
I never really paid any attention to Lauren's line except for the one time she was on the Tyra show. I admit i do watch "The Hills" from time to time, but I'm not a die hard fan about it. I do watch it enough to know that Heidi is the dumbest person in the world to lose a friendship of years for a jackass for life!!! But after looking at her site I did find somethings that i actually like for myself.
So tell me what you think about her line?
