McCain struggles to gain ground on Obama in Ohio

WASHINGTON – With the presidential race in its final days, Republican John McCain campaigned across Ohio, struggling to gain ground against Democrat Barack Obama in a state that the Republican must win to have a chance of capturing the White House.
With just five days to go before the election, Obama sought to expand his lead in the polls by campaigning against McCain in states that have voted Republican in recent elections, including Florida, Virginia and Missouri.
McCain meanwhile spent a day riding a campaign bus through a single, critical swing state, Ohio, because if he loses there, he will have almost no chance of getting the 270 electoral votes he needs to win the presidency.
McCain says he relishes the role of underdog, and has pulled off come-from-behind wins in the past. He spent part of Thursday in an Ohio town called Defiance, and during the day blasted the media's skeptical assessment of his chances in Tuesday's election.
"The pundits have written us off, just as they've done several times before," he said. "We're a few points down, but we're coming back."
The latest national poll released Thursday, the CBS-NY Times national poll, put Obama and Joe Biden at 52 percent, McCain and Sarah Palin at 39 percent. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
Obama, who spent millions blanketing the television networks with a paid political appeal Wednesday night, continued to hammer home his message that the U.S. needs to change course.
"When the polls close on Tuesday, you don't want to say to yourself, 'Here's something I didn't do, here's an argument I didn't make, here's a hand I didn't shake,'" Obama said in an interview with ABC television, broadcast Thursday.
By most independent evidence, on the Thursday before Election Day the race was Obama's to lose.
National polls showed the Democrat with a substantial lead nationwide, and he was rated the favorite in a half-dozen states that sided with President Bush in 2004. Surveys showed him in close races in three more.
Two new polls released Thursday showed the candidates tied in the once reliably Republican state of Indiana.
Obama, who is seeking to become the nation's first black president, has raised hundreds of millions of dollars more than McCain.
And he has used that advantage to draw votes in traditionally Republican areas, forcing McCain to spend precious time and money defending his home turf.
Obama's campaign has approached Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel about possibly serving as White House chief of staff, Democratic campaign officials said Thursday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
After spending part of Thursday in Florida and Virginia, Obama was headed for a rally in Columbia, Missouri as part of his political endgame.
Missouri, in the Midwest, is considered a political bellwether for the rest of the country. Voters there have voted for the winner in every U.S. presidential contest since 1956.
The Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, also was in Missouri on Thursday. She spoke in the Mississippi River city of Cape Girardeau, where she said Obama would be an "untested Commander in Chief." She described herself and McCain as outsiders who would bring reform and help get the economy back on track.
Obama's vice presidential candidate, Joe Biden, appeared Thursday in an area of Missouri hit hard by layoffs at a local Chrysler automotive plant, and mocked Palin and McCain for calling themselves political mavericks.
"You cannot call yourself a maverick when all you've been for the last eight years is a sidekick," Biden said. "They are the Bush administration's sidekicks."
Obama on Thursday also sought to shackle McCain to the policies of President Bush, whose popularity has plummeted as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have dragged on and the U.S. economy has stumbled.
The candidate compared the White House to a car, and said McCain was waiting to take the wheel from Bush and continue to steer the country down a dead-end.
"After nine straight months of job losses, the largest drop in home values on record, wages lower than they've been in a decade, why would we keep driving down this dead-end street?" Obama said.
As evidence, Obama pointed to federal data released Thursday showing that the economy — the world's largest, generating about one fifth of global gross domestic product — shrank in the third quarter of the year.
U.S. consumers, meanwhile, cut back on their spending by the biggest amount in 28 years.
McCain, in Ohio, also seized on new data — in this case reports of record profits by Exxon Mobil Corp. — to point out that in the U.S. Senate Obama voted for new tax breaks for the oil industry.
"I voted against it," the Arizona Republican said. "When I'm president, we're not going to let that happen."
McCain was likely referring to Obama's 2005 vote on a Republican-crafted energy bill. Obama and other Democrats supported the bill after major tax breaks for alternative energy and conservation were added.
Both campaigns have invested heavily in turning out early voters, with Obama expected to reap the most votes.
According to Dr. Michael P. McDonald of George Mason University, 17.5 million Americans have already cast ballots under provisions for early voting, about 14 percent of the 124 million cast in the 2004 elections.
But the campaign has generated such intense interest that some experts are still predicting long lines at the polls on election day.
Officials in North Carolina said roughly 30 percent of all registered voters had already cast ballots — about 1.7 million in all. But the Board of Elections has ordered the state's 100 counties to keep longer voting hours.
Both Republicans and Democrats are voting early. But officials in Iowa, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada as well as North Carolina said more Democrats that Republicans had cast ballots, in some cases by lopsided margins.
The political attacks on Obama have intensified as the election has approached.
An automated phone call blitz by McCain's campaign in Illinois is trying to revive the issue of Obama's ties to a convicted felon, claiming the Democrat hasn't fully explained the relationship.

Empowered

This is a poem that was emailed to me from a friend whom I hadn't spoke with in awhile. its soo funny, because even though we don't keep in contact like we use to before she moved, she always know when I'm going through something and need some words of peace, wisdom, and understanding. So to my home girl Mrs. Stewart...lol THANK YOU MOMMA!! LOVE U TO PIECES!! Can't wait til I come see ya in DEC.

The strength to rise from the pain,
to continue at all cost,
The strength to prolong all the shame,
Knowing that you've lost,
The strength to smile, when all you feel is anger,
to substitute bad days, for the best ones you can remember,
The strength to say 'I'm lost' when your pride has blocked your sight,
to say 'please love me', though I've never done it right,
The strength to say you love them, knowing there may be no reply,
to stay by their sides at times, when all they do is cry,
the strength to try again after many times of failing,
to finally open up after many years of waiting,
The strength to fall in love, though sacrificing your heart,
to keep a loved one close while knowing you've grown apart,
The strength to say ' I love you' when all else has gone wrong,
to keep on waiting for you..... regardless of how long,

JANET @ THE PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS 2008

Okay so the Trip to Detroit was the best!!! I really needed to get away from Columbus, even if it was just for a day!!! Once again I can't even stress how grateful and happy that my cuzzo had my back with asking me to go!! Thanks again Bran;o) I owe you BIG time!!
We didn't head out til about 2:45 but we arrived about 5:30- 6pm. Even after getting a little turned around, we still mad really good time!!
So we get to the area and its just flowing with people, media, and security, and a few other celebs. We actually sat near Rasheed Wallace and his wife. They were so cute!! He's soo tall and she's short and petite. She had on a banging silver sparkle dress with matching heels and he was just chilling in jeans and a sweatshirt. I was able to snap a few pics of them, but they came out too dark;o( O well....Anyway our seats were great!! Second row back from the stage!!! I'm talking we was so close Janet hit us with a few beads of sweat a few times!!!lolol
She started off with a Bang literally!! Popping up from under the stage in a ray of fireworks!! it was sooo hott!! she had about 6 costume changes and she dance and sang non stop for almost 2 1/2 Hours!!!! You could tell she was still a little sick cause you could hear it in her voice!
The way the stage was setup there was a walk way the went all the way around the front of the stage and extended halfway out into the middle of the arena. So anyone on the floor had very nice seats!!
The section we sat in was very close of course and very loud!! We actually sat right next to two couples from Ohio, 2 from Detroit, 1 from ATL, and one from Kentucky!! They were all mad cool and we all had a great time!! Some even exchanged email addresses to exchange pics with each other.
All in all it was a very good concert!! Even though she did admit they had to cut about 30 to 45 mins of the show due to laws in Detroit, about " Too lewd and sexual" performances. I enjoyed myself soo much and so did my cousin!! I was worried at first because I thought we may end up in a brawl and in jail for causing a riot???lol But, we had a talk in the car and he promised he wouldn't grab her unless she grabbed him 1st!!!lol ( there was a couple times where she got too close and I didn't think he would hold strong to his word...lol;o)
I can't wait for the next road trip!!! I posted some of the pics from the concert up.....I had a lot to choose from, but I only put a few.

Everyone Can't Be In Your Front Row

Life is a theater - invite your audience carefully.

Not everyone is spiritually healthy and mature enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you LET GO, or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships/fellowships!

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention to: Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?

Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?

Which ones always have DRAMA or don't really understand, know and appreciate you and the gift that lies within you?

When you seek growth, peace of mind, love and truth, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.

You cannot change the people around you...but you can change the people you are around!

Ask God for godly wisdom and discernment and choose wisely the people who sit in the front row of your life. '

Just because no one has shown up who can love you on your level, doesn't mean you sink to theirs!'

" BECAUSE" By TD Jakes

Just because no one has been fortunate enough to realize what a gold mine you are,
Doesn't mean you shine any less.

Just because no one has been smart enough to figure out that you can't be topped,
Doesn't stop you from being the best.

Just because no one has made this race worthwhile,
Doesn't give you permission to stop running.

Just because no one has realized how much of an awesome woman you are,
Doesn't mean they can affect your femininity.

Just because no one has sown up who can love you on your level,
Doesn't mean you have to sink to theirs.

Just because God is still preparing you King,
Doesn't mean that you're already not a Queen.

Just because your situation doesn't seem to be progressing right no,
Doesn't mean you need to change a thing.

Keep shining, keep running, keep hoping, and keep praying, keep being exactly who you already are.

Road Trip To Detroit

Okay so I'm very excited that I get the opportunity to see Ms. Jackson in concert this coming Tues in Detroit. To be honest, I wasn't even planning on going because I didn't even know when the concert was??
It was suppose to take place last month in Detroit, but due to her illness she's been suffering with, she had to re-schedule the date. Lucky for me, my cuzzo is a die hard Janet fan and he looks out for his cuzzo!!!
So I'm really looking forward to going now and not only to see Janet, but to spend time with my cuzzo and to get away from Cols for a little bit. Thank the lord I just so happened to have the day off at work too!!
The lord really does work in mysterious ways???;o) I am definitely glad it worked out in both of our favors!!! I know we will have a ball!! When the two of us get together we ALWAYS have a great time!!
Just one thing to my cuzzo, please don't grab her and try to kidnap her!! I mean JD is small I can take him. But them bodyguards is something different!!!lol

Lil Wayne New Baby:Sarah B Lil Wayne Baby Mama

Lil Wayne New Baby:Sarah B Lil Wayne Baby Mama - Here is a picture of Lil Wayne’s new baby mama.Sarah B who is Vietnamese/Caucasian gave birth to a son named Dwayne Carter III yesterday for Wayne.Sarah B is 21 years of age and Dwayne Carter III is her second child.
It has also been said that Lil Wayne's new baby momma was a nail tech, stripper, model, or just a groupie, but no one knows any of this for sure?? There was a Myspace page of Sarah with all kind of pictures of her modeling, showcasing wads of money, as well as pictures during her pregnancy. But shortly after reports came out about her being Lil Wayne's baby momma, the page disappeared??
There were also rumors that it was actually R & B singer, Nivea, who was suppose to be pregnant by Wheezy?? Since Nivea and Terius " The Dream" Nash had divorced, Her and Wheezy were said to be madly in love all over again?? There was a video on YouTube that Lil Wayne Offered 1 Million dollars to who ever could get him a Nivea back together?? There's also a rumor that Nivea had ask Wheezy to marry her, but he said he wasn't ready for that, but has been seen around sporting a nice diamond band around his wedding finger that he has described as a "Promise Ring" to Nivea???
This story is just way out of control!! But all we can hope is that the new mother and new baby are healthy and doing well.

Jennifer Hudson's nephew missing after slayings

CHICAGO - Authorities investigating the shooting deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother were searching for the missing 7-year-old nephew of the Oscar-winning actress.
A suspect in the deaths was in custody Friday night, but young Julian King had not been seen since the bodies of Darnell Donerson, 57, and Jason Hudson, 29, were found Friday afternoon.
A family member entering Donerson's South Side home Friday afternoon found the woman shot on the living room floor. Responding officers later found Hanson shot in the bedroom, police said.
At least one of the victims suffered defensive wounds, said authorities who described the shooting as domestic violence.
William Balfour, a man suspected in the deaths, was arrested Friday but had not been charged, law enforcement sources told the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.
Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said investigators were talking to "a number of people in custody" but she declined to elaborate. An Amber Alert issued Friday said Balfour was a suspect in the double homicide.
Records from the Illinois Department of Corrections show Balfour, 27, is on parole and spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle. Public records show one of Balfour's addresses as the home where Donerson and Jason Hudson were shot.
The Cook County medical examiner's office said autopsies for Donerson and Jason Hudson were pending.
Balfour's mother, Michelle, said her son had been married to Hudson's sister, Julia, for several years, but they were separated. She also said Donerson had ordered him to move out of the family's home last winter.
Jennifer Hudson's personal publicist, Lisa Kasteler, said the family wanted privacy.
The tragedy comes as Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, continues to reach new heights in her career. Her song "Spotlight" is No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts and her recently released, self-tiled debut album has been a top seller. She was featured in this year's blockbuster "Sex and the City" movie and is also starring in the hit film "The Secret Life of Bees."
She won an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007 for her role in "Dreamgirls." In an interview last year with Vogue, Hudson credited her mother with encouraging her to audition for "American Idol," which launched her career.
The singer, whose father died when she was a teenager, described herself as very close to her family. In a recent AP interview she said her family, which includes older siblings Julia and Jason, helped keep her grounded.
"My faith in God and my family, they're very realistic and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago that's just another place that's home," she said. "I stand in line with everybody else, or, when I go home to my mom I'm just Jennifer, (so she says), 'You get up and you take care of your own stuff.' And I love that; I don't like when people tell you everything you want to hear, I want to hear the truth, you know what I mean."
Hudson recently announced her engagement to David Otunga, best known for his stint on VH1's reality show "I Love New York."
Hudson's representatives would not disclose her whereabouts Friday. She had been scheduled to appear Monday in Los Angeles to collect an ensemble cast honor at the Hollywood Awards for "The Secret Life of Bees" with co-stars including Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning.

Not Good Enough or Artistic Expression???

So I have seen both of Beyonce's new videos for " If I Were A Boy" and " Single Ladies" I personally loved both videos. I think that " If I Were A Boy" had a very good spin to it and that it was the perfect way to get the message she was singing out. Ive heard a lot of people liking this video and giving it very good feedback.
Now as far as the second video, " Single Ladies", I have been getting mixed reviews and opinions. Once again, me personally love this video! It didn't have all the smoke and mirrors if you will. It was a very upbeat, high energy, full out dance til you can't breath no more performance. And to me that is great!!! I love to see an artist put there heart and soul into their performance because it make me feel like I'm getting the entertainment that I expect from such a highly respected artist.
A lot of people has said that the video for " Single Ladies" was not what they expected or it was whack and looked cheap? My thing is I feel she expressed herself artistically and the way she felt she wanted to display the vibe of the song. To me I think it was brilliant that B did what she did for this video, for the simple fact that people were expecting her in a club bumping and grinding all up on dudes, making the man who lost out all jealous.
Being the TRUE artist that she is, she did the complete OPPOSITE. That's what makes her a great artist. You can hate her or love her, but the bottom line is she makes her $$$ and she handles her business. So, tell me what y'all think about the videos????

P.S. I also heard she did the " Single Ladies" Video in only ONE TAKE!!! No who else these days can do that???

Still Standing Intro

Hello everyone!! This is my first time ever blogging so bare with me!!;o) I have been told by a lot of people this helps to keep them sane and at peace, so I should give it a try. 2008 has been a very hard year for me and I'd figure trying something new would keep my mind off the negative and focus on the positive for the new year ahead of me.
I'm definitely looking forward to the new year!! Even though we are still about 2 months away, 2009 I feel is gonna be a great year for me and also those around me.
I have a lot of plans already for the new year and I have already made some moves to make those plans a reality.
In the meantime I just want to say " Thank You" to that person who keeps me sane no matter what and is always there for me no matter what. You are truly my best friend and I'm honored and privileged to be able to say that!!
I also want to say to all those who have blessed me with your prayers and well wishes during this diffucult year, " Thank You and God Bless!" You are all in my prayers just like me and my family was in your prayers. And to all those who thought I'd buckle and not make it???? Hahahaha.........IM STILL STANDING!!!!!!!!
